SQL Developer II
Job Summary:
The SQL Developer II develops and optimizes SQL-based solutions that enable accurate, efficient, and secure access to enterprise data. This role supports the delivery of high-quality applications, reporting, and analytics by applying best practices in database design and development. Through strong technical expertise and a passion for data, the position helps the organization leverage its data assets to drive business decisions and deliver value to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Develop SQL Solutions - Create and maintain database objects (tables, views, stored procedures, functions) to support applications, reporting, and analytics. Ensure solutions follow best practices for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Optimize and Tune SQL Queries - Analyze and improve query performance through indexing strategies, execution plan reviews, and code optimization to ensure efficient data access.
- Collaborate on Data Integration Processes - Work with ETL teams (primarily Informatica, occasionally SSIS) to support data movement and transformation between systems, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Support Solution Design and Standards - Participate in design discussions, provide guidance on SQL Server capabilities, and ensure adherence to corporate standards and best practices in database development.
- Testing and Quality Assurance - Validate SQL code and database changes through unit testing and assist with integration testing to ensure reliability and compliance with requirements.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Database Platform: 3-5 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server in a development role with strong T-SQL skills (queries, stored procedures, functions). Oracle experience a plus.
- Development Tools: SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS); familiarity with source control tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Git).
- Performance Tuning: Ability to analyze execution plans and apply indexing strategies.
- ETL Tools: SSIS experience strongly preferred; Informatica familiarity helpful.
- Certification: Azure Database Administrator Associate or Data Engineer Associate (preferred, not required).
