Sr. Systems Engineer, VMware
Job Summary:
This role is responsible for the design, stability, security, and ongoing operations of Americo’s enterprise virtual infrastructure supporting critical insurance, financial, and corporate systems.
This engineer must have deep hands-on experience with VMware vSphere and NSX, along with strong working knowledge of enterprise storage, backups, and networking. This position plays a key role in maintaining highly available, secure, and compliant infrastructure in a regulated insurance environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- ??Design, implement, and support VMware vSphere environments (ESXi, vCenter, clusters, HA, DRS) supporting production and nonproduction workloads
- Lead administration and optimization of VMware NSX for network virtualization, segmentation, and security controls
- Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning to support business growth and application demands for VMware, Storage, Compute.
- Implement and maintain NSX security policies, including microsegmentation, to support Americo’s security and compliance posture
- Support backup and recovery solutions for virtual environments, ensuring compliance with RPO/RTO requirements
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- 10 years of proven experience in VMware engineering with focus on automation engineering (could substitute for formal education).
- The ideal candidate has deep handson experience with VMware vSphere and NSX, along with strong working knowledge of enterprise storage, backups, and networking
- Experience with automation and scripting (PowerCLI, PowerShell, Python)
- Strong cross-functional collaboration capabilities and customer relationship management

Education:
Four year college degree or equivalent years of relevant experience
